Had a bit of a booboo today which ended up with the old girl on a flat bed and me and the family in the cab of the recovery truck. Long story short, I hit a tree stump and I've bent the track rod resulting in comedy/drunk steering.

Seem cheap enough on island to get a replacement. Anything else I should take note of or check?

To top it off, discovered my other car is dead so I'm without cars..and my mobile is screwed too. Been a bad week/day.

Tracking is the obvious knock-on effect....

You had me going then, the old girl on a flat bed, Tell us the long story, HOW did you hit the tree stump.

All quite innocent, was gonna turn at the end of a country lane. Saw gravel on the other side of a grass verge, figured I'd nip over the verge instead...and hit a stump. Only knew it was there when it was too late and the noise and bang had happened.

Fine if just changing a TRE, but given the possible stretch effect of the impact etc, getting the tracking checked properly would be high on my list of priorities.

Yes, but at the moment the car isn't driveable - I have wheels pointing in opposite directions so I need to get it driveable so the tracking can be done.

So, turns out I don't have a good, heavy duty 18mm socket.

Today's progress halted before I started :|

All done.

It looked bent when on the car... didn't realise quite how much until it was off...!

Tracking being done in 30 minutes along the road. Hopefully straighten out my steering wheel too!

Yes that is what you call well and truely bent, nowt that abig birmingham screw driver wont fix.

Yep - all straight and sorted now!

Wheel was off-center when I bought it.. so today is the first day it's been spot on!
