Hi all
I've bought a used witter towbar and electrics off eBay, looks straight forward enough to fit but I've read I need to upgrade a fuse from 20amp to 30 also I need to install a relay into the fuse board, anyone know if that's correct? And what the part number is if that is infact the case?

Well. I would use the mechanical bits and use OEM electrics.
The OEM is simple and no need to upgrade any fuses and I would definitely not touch/mess with L322 electrics..too complicated to muck with..

Yeah I'm thinking the same although it did come with an ecu just not a LR one.
It all works fine with just the wiring I have but I'm not getting any indication on the dash that the trailer is connected.
It's plug and play except for 1 red wire that I have no idea where it goes. It's live though so won't be connecting it to anything unless I'm 100% it should be there.
The tow bar itself is great. Very heavy duty and looks almost brand new
 
I have already emailed them.i guess being the weekend they won't be around.
Suprised I couldn't find fitting instructions on line.
I did see a link that took me to an American site showing the red wire connecting to one of the connecting blocks above the fuse box but the blank the red wire went into isnt blank on my connector so didn't want to chance it
 
On mine (when I had one:)) I bought a new bar for £120 if memory serves, but based on general fori consensus I splashed out on genuine module and loom @ c. £240 as I really didn't want to add to an already long list of potential leccy faults.
It worked perfectly of course, disabling parking sensors etc when hitched to my bogey (trailer;))

Hope you solve your conundrum for pence rather than pounds.

And let us know of any success or fire brigade call-outs :)
 
Well I'll see what I find out from witter but failing that I'll get a genuine LR loom and ecu. They can be had pretty cheaply now.
 
I did see that one on eBay but for a few extra ££££ you can get a new kit with instructions.
I've just checked my car with the trailer connected and it all works as it should I think.
The parking sensors ire disabled and the air ride won't adjust. And if I press the button it tells me the cars in trailer mode so I don't think there are any functions I'm missing unless anyone can tell me different??
I did imagine that like the defenders and discos I would get a trailer sign on the dash when indicating but perhaps not in the L322
 
So it's working, on the face of it what more can you ask of it?
I don't remember what symbol (if any) shows if using genuine module but should the indicators not buzz when on?

One thing that I was led to believe at the time was when plugged to a trailer it also impacted on transmission shift patterns to keep it cool when being worked but it may just do that organically anyway.
The few times I towed I probably was way over limit and I was more aware of the box short shifting.

What was I hauling? Ass more than likely :D
 
Well as you say it's working so I won't be spending £100 plus just so it has a LR part. If I get any type of issue then I'll change it but until then I'll se how it goes
 
And as a bonus I repaired the parking sensor wires while the bumper was off. Had completely forgotten until today when I reversed and realised I had working sensors.

sounds as though all is fine.
there is no dash warning or audible warning when towing of the L322 (at lease this era).
I checked with LR...
Mad in my eyes...
happy days.
 
Just heard back about the red wire. They think it connects to the fuse box live. Not convinced as the wire is already live. I'll leave it disconnected as it doesn't appear to stop anything working
