Today's experience not so great. Having left the P38 sitting for 3 days the battery was flat. It jump started fine. The sat nav has white screen and disc won't eject. The steering wheel controls don't do anything' Radio works but only half volume. Sub gives loud pop when ignition turns off. Thankfully the engine runs well and the a/c still works as do windows and locks so statistically not terrible! Being totally useless on computers I can't seem to download useful copy of Rave which does seem to be a priority now. No warning messages with flat battery and life preventing further investigation yet. ho hum

If you have a charger, put the battery on charge for 24 hours, you may find some of your problems then disappear. The P38 needs a lot of power. They do not like batteries going flat.

I was hoping it would last more than 3 days!. I also can't believe the cigarette lighter isn't permanent live for solar charger as every British car I ever bought has been. Bet that is another millennium " improvement "!!!

The P38 is not unique, every car I have ever had the cig lighter has been ignition controlled even my 1986 Toyota.
I connect the solar panel via the trailer socket.

RF interference (loads on here) or aftermarket stereo draining it - usually switched and permanent live mixed up. Or headlight wipers not parked properly.

Thanks for all the replies. I am in Oxford with no off street parking so have to rely on jump pack. Where is the trailer socket as I have a solar panel? I have used it each day and no problem.

Trailer socket is next to the tow hook. If you do not have a tow hook, behind the trim in the left side of the boot you will find a connector for the 7S trailer wiring, it has a fused live and and earth.
If you are really stuck for a copy of RAVE, as a last resort I could post you a copy on CD along with other useful info for the cost of postage.

I'm pretty sure my old RRC cig. lighters (F & R) are also ign. live, not permanent.
Something to do with the safety of inquisitive kids if they are left in the car?
