Just had my Head Gasket replaced at 140k and I said it to the mech (having read a post here) about replacing the timing belt and water pump when doing the gasket. He said the timing belt was done at 112k ( which it was) and there was no need. Any opinions?

If you are worried about your water pump ? does your disco lose water from the pump or does it make a noise or feel like there is movement on the shaft? if not then there is no need to change it if you want to change it as a preventitve measure they are cheap at about £30 and it is a easy job taking around an hour tops
