Went to service the Shogun today.
Asked in Halfords for a air and oil filter.
They quoted £50 for the oil filter and £40 for the air filter.
I though **** that and went to the local Auto Care.

£20 for the pair!!!

£70 difference! How do they justify that?

The genuine mitsubishi oil filter is only £20!

I always buy genuine parts where I can, especially filters as they are SO
much better. If you have the time and money, buy both a repro and a genuine
oil filter and cut them open, then you'll see why you should buy the genuine
one at 50p more (or however much).

I wondered how much it was ta. The local Mitsubishi garage is a few miles
off.

£70 difference? I don't think I'd worry that much about a filter that only
lasts for 4500 miles!

It's not your filter you should worry about. Some engines rely on a
non-return valve in the filter to hold oil in the system while the
engine starts up. Some cheap filters don't have this valve and the
result is one seriously worn engine in a lot less than 4500 miles.
