Can anyone tell me if it is a major task to fit a 12s socket on my towbar. It presently only has the 12n socket. I have read that the 12n socket is just connected via a plug behind the back panel or somewhere like that. Is that also the case for a 12s socket.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Paul

12S has no wiring in the car so you'll have to run it all the way to the battery box, split charge relays are usually fitted in the battery box.

12N plug is behind the offside rear lamp unit

I bought a 12S kit from a caravan dealer and wired a feed via an in-line fuse direct from the battery to the relay supplied, works well and IIRC cost under £20.

Thanks fellas, do you have to buy the split charge relay seperately. Is it similar to wiring up a leisure battery? Any recommendations where to buy the correct stuff and what should I make sure is included. Sorry to be such a dumbarse:confused:

The kit I bought consisted of the relay and wiring, the relay will only provide power to the socket (fridge etc) when the engine is running or there is sufficient power in the car battery, it senses when power drops (when you turn off the engine) to avoid draining the car battery.

I then bought a 12S socket and bracket.

A good caravan dealer will help you out.
