Hi again... I have jacked up my d2 today to look at replacing brake pipe that has split,while jacking rear passenger side (under axle)i think i could hear air leaking from the bag and the bag entirely deflated,when i lowered car to ground again it was sat right down on the stops. turned engine on and pressed the raise button and it came back up and seems to be holding again now.Is this normal? do i need to replace bag or is it best to do coil conversion ? i plan on pulling my caravan and kids around a lot this summer don't want to be sat in a field with its arse on the ground lol. Just out of curiosity, you jacked up the back right?
If ignition was on then perhaps height sensors took over and dropped preesure in bags to bring the vehicle to correct ride height? When you dropped it, ther was insufficient air in the system to bring it back up and the compressor requires current from alternator to run so it didnt self level?
Does seem odd though!

Hi and thanks for replies, Dieseldog69 yea i jacked the rear axle on driver side as as i jacked axle up i could hear air coming out of bag .I then put an axle stand under chassis and lowered axle and bag was totally squished and empty. When i jacked back up ,removed axle stand then lowered back onto wheels it was sat right down on stops(both bags flat). Turned ignition on and ran engine,nothing happened so pressed lift button and it came up to full height and has stayed up since! Weird.

The SLABS ECU remains under power up to 1.5 hours after the ignition was off and also comes to life if you open any door so if you carry out any job on the axles/suspension which implies jacking you must disconnect the neg. battery lead or the SLS management will be mixed up by unexpected inputs from the sensors it can even loose calibration... if it's ok now and it doesnt drop over night put your mind to rest, if it drops replace the bags, if it seems lower or higher than before without leaking you need a sensor recalibration
Thanks for the advice sierrafery i had no idea about any of that before. I seriously thinking of just getting rid of air and doing the terrafirma 2" spring conversion all round. I just think it seems a lot that could go wrong and leave me stranded.But general advice on here seems to be to keep and just replace bags. Undecided still .
Best get your grinder and cut the floor out, I mean, that way you can do a flintstones when the engine leaves you stranded when it goes wrong
