Hi,

Is some kind soul able to tell me the correct fan belt size for a Disco 2 TD5 with A/C and ACE?

I have seen 2 sizes quoted for this - 7PK1870 and 7PK1888 - but the one it came with when I got it is actually 7PK1867. Confused.

I am trying to cure a squeal. I bought the 1888 and I have left it on for the minute - it does seem to squeal slightly less, but the tensioner is just about at the end of it's travel taking up the slack.

Cheers,
Adam..

Before you go too much further with belts and tensioners, I wuld have a close look at the exhaust manifold gaket. Leaking gasket gives the same screech. Common problem on TD5 & I speak from experience. Changed belt, tensioner and idler before I read about the problem.
Typically leaks at the back end of the manifold. Black exhaust blow marks can give a clue.

Well I'm stumped now.

changed the tensioner (bearing was rough)
changed the belt (had the wrong size on)
changed the exhaust manifold gasket

still got a demented budge under the bonnet.

I didn't see any evidence of the gasket blowing but changed it anyway as I see a few have found this to be the fix. The noise is exactly the same.

It's there over 1500rpm with light acceleration. Take foot off - it stops. Heavy acceleration - it stops.

Any suggestions where I can look next? Or is it really the manifold and I need to swap it out, I don't have the gear to check if its warped in any way.

cheers,
Adam..

Thanks for the suggestion.

Even been up the road now with the viscous fan off and belt off completely, so I guess that rules out the belt slipping, fan, air-con, alternator, power steering, water pump, tensioner, idler....

... still got the demented budgie !

Maybe I need to look to get a re-con exhaust manifold from somewhere in case mine is warped (my local machine shop says they can't skim them)

What do you reckon?

Cheers,
Adam..
