It can't be anything from VAG as they already have a button.
My Toyota has one too.
I did have a fault on my ABS with the Hilux which would turn off the ABS and the hill hold function. To get it all back working again I needed to plug in my OBD2 tool and go for a 'clear faults'.
A bit modern I know, thats why i prefer my Defender as it has no electronics at all ... I even took the radio out.
Oh hang on is yours one of these new fangled TD5 thingies with a BMW engine or even a Ford Transit engine ??
There are some people on here who know about those.
Edit ... the OP added TD5 to the thread title ... so mystery solved(ish), we don't know what year or if this was standard or optionaly fitted.

Debate with mate last night who wouldnt believe me that defenders came with traction control in any model. I think was an option on TD5 and std on TDCI is this right? so I can nail his arse to the floor tonight! This how sad our tea brakes are as we were debating the merits of a stage 1 109 and...

Very easy.
Buy a fuse piggy back + an inline fuse.
Wire the piggy back into a switch with an inline fuse.
Push switch it cuts off power to the fuse and TC/ABS is off. However it will turn off ABS as well so not for road use.
Turn it back on and all works again, no faults to clear.
Very useful in things like sand where TC will sap power and you want all the power

Which piggyback fuse? Sorry very novice with knowledge for parts on this.
I feel I should be using the gold tap, 12v to switch and inline fuse to TC system

First pic. That one. Normal fuse goes in the top slot i think, run that to the in line fuse, switch, back to live.
Nope no relay needed.
Had that on my old 110 for years without any issues, and on my D2 for a couple years.

I am only confused on where to reroute the live wire after the switch if the piggyback fuse is there?
If there is only an output wire, how do I reroute it back to the tc system?
To make it stupid simple, could I use that gold tap from my photo I attached, have one connect to the
+12V - gold tap- connector/wire - inline fuse - switch - connector/wire - gold tap - TC System
