Hi,

Saw a thread a few days ago which I cant seem to find again stating that autos are not good for towing heavy loads as they overheat the gearbox ( possibly it was South Africa / Australia ).
Has anyone else had any problems with this issue?
I bought my Td5 auto 6 mths ago exactly for this job ( so far the auto box has been brilliant for towing )and although most of my miles are done with no trailer at all around 15 times a year I would be pulling the Trailer/ tractor ( 3.5 T combined ) on a max of 80 miles round trips in the summer months.

Thanks Andy,

Seems I shouldnt worry about it although they make recommendations of changing to synthetic gearbox oil, but for all that it takes to change say every 10,000 is it worth the extra?

surely autos are easier to tow with/drive in general.Its pretty much stop or go(but never both at the same time so im told)
