Hi all,

Looking at getting a defender. Just wanted to know what engine would be best to get? The td5 the 2.4 or the 2.2. The 2.2 might be out of my price range but would still be good to know.

cheapest when it blows up,and easiest to get spares as there's no tdi option the 2.4 is a transit engine so lots of them about
 
Td5 would get my money. Models after that come with a super sticky steering wheel which makes saluting fellow Landy drivers almost impossible!
 
Ok sorry ill rephrase my question,

If you had £15k to spend on a defender 90. What would you buy? Wont be offroading really just the odd wet field here and there.

Obviously dont need to spend the whole 15k! Its just a budget!

300 tdi if you want simple,reliable mechanics TD5 if you want fast,more refined but more expensive when it goes pear
