Drove down to Southampton to spend Christmas with my son,great journey down the old girl ran sweet as a nut,On the way back from a visit to Salisbury Cathedral engine started clanking a bit so drove carefully back to where we were staying lifted the bonnet to see what i could see.First thing i noticed was smell of some thing hot also metal filings floating up from area of bottom pulley.came to conclusion crankshaft pulley naffed,Car gone back to Yorkshire on back of AA recovery truck my wife and i will follow on tomorrow in hire car.Any help or tips the repair i would be really thank full for.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, just not what anyone wants this time of year, you most likely know by now the crank pulley will need to be changed, use only a corteco one cheap ones don't last, link below for you, also best to get a new bolt make sure you get the right one as at sometime they changed good luck Arctic.

Change both the belts use gates, they are the best out there in my opinion.

renew all you belts with renewing the pulley you can get the tool to hold the pulley while you undo the bolt and always replace that bolt with a new one if you have access to a air gun you will not need the tool for holding the pulley.
