Is there a common cause for stopping the tailgate from opening on the p38? It seems intermittent, but getting more often and frequent that the button doesn't do anything.

Middle microswitch at bottom of driver's door actuator. Or water ingress into the button itself.

Thanks.

So it hasn't rained for ages and the vehicle hasn't gotten wet.

Also the button will work/not work without locking or unlocking the vehicle. e.g. parked it up and opened the tailgate to load some stuff. After loading closed the tailgate and the button won't re-open it. Or vice versa, it won't work. Drive a mile and it'll work sort of thing.

When driving along do you get door locks locking and unlocking, if so definitely drivers door latch. Will need replacing. marty uk does refurbed ones with new micro switches. Check his web site Range Rover P38 Parts Shop

I guess you could check the black earth wire from the lock actuator in case that is breaking up inside or fouling the window mechanism too.
