Oy Adz, did yer do yer swivels? Was it easy? You reckon I'll copewith it?Wanna git mine done before me MOT in a couple of months..

Not yet - I fort we were going to do it at your place so you can see what's involved?

If you run out of time, stick some gaiters on until you get time to do the swivels, will get you past the MOT because they can't see the leaks.

Can only fail the MOT if the leak is excessive and oil can get on brake disc/pads etc (there is no other criteria for failing). Why not drain the EP90 out of the swivel and replace with one shot grease or make your own up as I do, mixture of grease and EP90 just thick enough to be able to get it into filler hole.

one shots pretty good but to be fair if the seals are worn (or are the balls just pitted? ) it would probably be a good idea to do em anyway , just so you can check the bearings and re set the pre load.
remember though , use new locking washers for the hub nuts. i re used an old one on mine and it sheered and locked up my front wheel on the a21 , i was doing 50 ish, scary biscuits.
no real special tools required , a hub spanner and spring scales for the pre load (fishing weighing thingy) and a 12 point socket for the callipers.
half a days work if you ain't done it before.

Thank you for your help guys.. I think I like the grease idea fer the moment. Is that a 'permanent' solution? Or will I have to sort it proper asap? I do wanna have a go at changin the seals cos I wanna take it all apart to see how it works!

haynes should be good for this job.
if you google 'land rover manuals down load' you can find the workshop books.
you need to know the year of your axles , well , you need to know if the locking washers have a 'lug' or a flat edge. mine had a lug or key type as ive heard them bein called.

Ok. Thanks fer that. Theres no reason me axles should be anything but 1986's is there? Will get on google later... Thank you nobber. X
