Anyone done the swivel seals the easy way i.e. without removing the whole lot, what is required for this and what does it entail.
I totally agree - and usually by the time it needs seals the swivel bearings are shagged and need doing as well.clutchdust said:dont cut the seal!!!! it'll leak, super glue isn't water proof and what about the spring in the seal thats designed to hold the seal tight to the ball?
If yer gonna do it, do it properly.
Take the brake caliper off, take the track rod off, undo the bolts that hold the hub assembly to the axle tube then pull the whole lot off the axle. sit the hub in the wheel and you can work on it quite easlily, undo the ring of 8mm bolts, take the ring off, prise the seal out, new seal in and refit it all back up. Easy!!!!
it'll take less time doing that than faffing around and wrecking the seal then doing it again cos it ****ed out.
