morning all,
I've recently returned to disco ownership as my battered old 110 just isn't suitable for everyday use now I have a family..
My last disco had a full 2" lift (shocks, springs, traling arms, radius arms etc etc) and ran 235/85/16's.. she was if anything far more capable than the driver! lol
But this time as my ability and off road time isn't extreme I'm thinking of going with a set up similiar to that used on the camel trophy discos.. namely HD springs, 7.50 tyres on std defender rims (or wolf rims) with a "camel cut". I'm also thinking of adding 2" over shocks (with extended b/lines & dislocation cones) to give a bit more flex.
Has anyone else gone with this kind of set up? Are there any pitfalls in not running a lift?
Cheers, J

Hmm didn't think about approach angle... but my thoughts were that the Camel trophy vehicles seem to cope with rougher stuff than I do.. and
Wheel space shouldn't be an issue as the Camel trophy disco's ran 7.50's with just the "camel cut" on the rear.

ho hum.. I guess I really should try and track down someone who owns an ex CT disco and ask how they find it...

With my 300 I went down the route of getting bearmach HD springs +30mm front/+40mm rear with standard height terrafirma dampers.Im running 235/85/16 continental AT's.I've got an after market winch bumper and got rid of the tow hitch for a tank guard with removeable tow hitch. Its camel cut and steering stops have been adjusted. It rides nice and stiff on the road, but doesn't break your back off road.I've found this to be a very happy medium of every day use and still having a disco that can pretty much go anywhere.
