Hi everyone, hope you’re all well and not looking like lobsters
Just a quick un. Anybody any idea off hand which compressor is fitted to my truck ?
Just a reminder RRS 3ltr 2010
VIN number ends AA218232
Had the intermittent ‘normal ride height only’ but since this hot weather has now become more off than on and when it does work raises painfully slow.

there is a choice of two types, AMK or hitachi

AMK is the better quality one

have u got a code reader as that will tell u, or take the compressor cover off to confirm which one u have

gstuart, thanks, no I haven’t a code reader “yet” gonna have to do some mega sucking up to the better half coz rangey’s starting to get a bit into her senior years (mileage wise) 101k and I’m positively, most definitely not allowed a newer one as snoopy(granddaughters name for her) was a retirement present to myself. So I think code reader would be a good investment however looks like compressor cover off for starters

personally i bought the iid made by gap, alas price are currently £400 but has been a godsend , also seeing dealers want £120 to just plug a reader in its paid for itself extremely quickly

can do virtually everything there software can inc all the suspension re calibration, coding keys, live data etc etc, along with being able to see what pressure ur compressor is outputting and such a versatile tool

at least getting the compressor cover off will allow to to 100% identify what type u have

Hi all,
Just an update as to current position, took car to local garage today for code reading omg there were an absolute shed load of fault codes most minor such as door lock solenoid, rear parking sensors, and lost communication with column, however the dreaded suspension codes were as follows
C1A20. Pressure increases too slow when filling reservoir
UO421. Invalid data received from ride level control module
Mech gave two options as he didn’t want to dive straight in and change compressor only to find it wasn’t the problem
1. Take it to stealers for the £100 plus t4 diagnostic as he says some of the minor faults could just require Land Rover updates and they maybe able to give a defo on suspension fault. Or
2. Clear all faults and wait until next time suspension goes into “normal height only” and check codes again to see which suspension code reappears and then take it from there.
Decided to clear all codes and wait and see. Sure enough on way home “normal height only” popped up, back tomorrow morning for another plug in. So far only £20 for diagnostics mind you went to school with him and both cut our teeth on spanner’s in same village but different garages me on heavies and him on cars. Will update later

thks for the update

the U codes u can ignore

ref the C1A20 code that could be a leaking reservoir , / dryer cap split between pipes, just quickly , does it drop overnight by any chance please

the silica inside the compressors dryer could be very old and turned to dust which in turn can block valves up etc

this is another reason i bought my own diagnostics

what u really need is

1 ) get make of compressor
2 ) compressors pressure , when operating, therefore seeing if its output pressure is ok
3) what temperature the compressor is running at
4) the compressor air inlet filters has been checked
5) reservoir tank has been checked for any leaks,( would however drop overnight )

Hi gstuart, many thanks for the above in answer to your question there is no drop overnight and very little when she’s stood for 3 or 4 days in the garage. Yep I know it’s cheating but have a little pug 207 as a runabout for the shopping etc

Hi all. UPDATE :-
Been back this morning only suspension code still C1A20 as I’ve said mechs loathed to fit new compressor yet, suggested landy diagnostics first.
Contacted stealers diagnostics £140, if it is compressor which is AMK by the way £785.84 reverse park sensors £73.24 ea.
Given details of indy close by full diagnostics £27, park sensors £22 ea and the compressor £335+vat. Very helpful on phone going tomorrow morning. Will report back, if they are as good as they sound will post details for anyone else’s info in S Yorks area.
