Ive driven Defenders for a few years with work and recently took the plunge and bought my own. 110 Td5 CSW 2004. I bought it from Stratstone in Buckinghamshire and they transported it up to me FOC. It arrived with a cracked windscreen which they paid to be replaced locally to me. Wipers stopped working 7 days after I bought (ive had it two weeks) and its in with my local dealership up here in Grampian. Turns out the wheel boxes! have siezed which has wrecked everything including the motor, cost to sort is £565. The Landrover warranty company have refused to cover it so Stratstone have paid my local dealership to do it.

You may think I shouldnt had to have paid for these things on such a new to me vehicle anyway and I agree. But this doesnt detract from the extremly professional and efficient customer service that Stratstone have provided me on an 8 year old vehicle.

Makes for a refreshing change over the years of ****e service and on more than one occasion blatant deception we have had with Arnold Clark. A company we will never ever go near again.

Thanks

Either your the one lucky customer or this is a meat based product

I take it that is Stratstone in Newport Pagnell?

If so, personally I have vowed never to use them again as their service & warranty was awful.
They stripped the drain-plug thread on the initial service and when I later complained about the gearchange they said that they wouldn't do anything about it until 25K miles had been covered. I explained that at my usual rate I would be nowhere near that mileage by the time the warranty expired the service manager just grinned and said that it was tough!
I walked out and have never been back but in hindsight I should have stuck to my guns as even now at 35K miles the gearbox is still the worst I have ever had on a LR product, synthetic oil has helped but the gearbox itself is flawed.

Lots of experience with Stratstone - all absolutely lousy - always vow never to go back.
