does anyone know of anyone or any garage they would recomend to sort out the sunroofs on my 99 td5 i have read all the information on this subject but i think its beyond me i would like to use someone in the south/south midlands as i live in north oxfordshire i did find a chap advertising that he could repair them but hes in blackpool and i don't fancy a trip up there

Whats wrong with it ??? is it leaking or not opening ??? if it`s like mine was leaking black silicon under the frame will fix that it`s easy to do just unclip the frame put a bead of silicon round the top refit the frame and clean all the seals well

You are ment to drop the headlining which is a pig of a job . what you need is a helping hand to push the frame up from inside bit by bit you can get it to clear the roof enough to get the silicon in but not all at the same time

could you use the sealant used on caravans its like a putty and doesnt set stays soft to compensate the movement whilst towing???

I don't know the product but it has the same application as Silkaflex, caravans for one, so may be similar but in putty form, but be sure as you don't want to go near the sunroof again do u.

dont no the name of it i have to check shed did some work on caravan and told by stealer thats wat they used. its like a cream colour really easy to use and clean up.

yep the sunroofs work they just leak

Either of the two seals could be faulty the glass one takes 15-20 mins to replace the other body to sunroof seal half a day or more.

A quick check that the mechanisim is pulling the glass down onto the rubber seal ie. there's still some grease on the slider and there's nothing in the way to stop it closing fully, you only need a millimetre cap to allow water through. I believe Vasaline on the rubber edge also helps sometimes.
