Aaaaand yet again remember the boxes are not direct swap because the spigot bushes are different sizes, ideally you want a v8 box for immediate fit :)

R380 and LT77 V8 spec spigot bush is the same size isn't it ?

24mm outer and 21mm inner or something like that ?

Already cottoned on to that one ;)

Im just gonna change the input shaft on my current box(as its for a tdi) for the v8 inut shaft rather than mess about with bellhousing spacers/spigot bush machining etc.

Plus it gives me an excuse to overhaul the gearbox anorl :p

You'll still need a V8 bellhousing :p

Shaft is £95 from ashcrofts then VAT and delivery IIRC, I looked into this before selling my TDi R380 box and buying a V8 one

I know:rolleyes: haha finding one though seems to be a difficult task! :(

ebay mate ;) LT77 one will fit IIRC and theres a few long ones on there atm

Ah now that makes life easier! Ive been on ebay today and only seen those LT77 ones.

May have to get one see if it does fit! If not i can sell it on again.

Pretty sure it does, check the parts manual and make sure its the same number but pretty sure it is!

Edit; PM JM above ;)

what lt77 bellhousing on an r380 ?

When I was looking at getting one Dave at ashcroft said they were pretty similar, think there was a difference on the dowel or something like that. Deleted the email a while back when I picked up the new gearbox

He may have been on about the stumpy ones though as I was looking at getting a short R380, never asked for clarification as I got the new one with long housing

no lt77 bellhousing is longer than r380 ,r380 has longer extension case at rear to hold reverse as well as 5th so r380 bellhousing is shorter to make lt77 and r380 the same length overall

May be the stumpy he was on about in that case then, my bad :p

Stumpy is also apparently a landrover original part after doing some reading!
