3am eureka moment.
Floor door rubber split on door handle side, about 2" long. Thought I would remove and turn around so that the split was on the hinge side.
Removed and found that this is not possible due to profile. I did notice that the hole down the middle of the profile was quite large and wondered if I could strengthen the compression of this tube so that it provided more resistance to the door latch.
I had a dig around the garage and came across a Hozelock pressure sprayer, the type used for roses etc, and thought the tubing might fit down the large hole in the profile. Checked it out and fitted like a dream. Cut the required length of tubing off and slid it down the profile. 're fitted the floor rubber and re taining strip and went for a test drive. NO MORE RATTLES. EVEN OVER TWO LEVEL CROSSINGS. BINGO!
