Dunno but mine's passed MOT with plate like this for the last four years ..
Motosave do the plates and numbers.

This what the MOT manual say about them and a reason for a fail:
Is not easily legible by a person standing approximately 20 metres to the front/rear of the vehicle.
A registration plate not fixed vertically, or as close to vertical as is reasonably practical.
Can automatic number plate recognition or speed cameras see them.
