I have a 01 Disco with a replacement JVC headunit fitted with cd player inbuilt. The steering control unit does not work with the unit and i also want to to a bluetooth phone system in for an E61 Nokia. Any recomendations - i would like to have the steering control work for the radio also.

Look on the internet for the JVC website and you should be able to find an adaptor kit that fits on the loom between the steering wheel and radio.

Not sure about the Bluetooth though Sorry

try this, it's about half way down the page. Jvc to BMW type connector..
