Hi!

Is the hole in the picture a factory vent for the power steering system in a D1, or is it damage to the cap?

Its definitely not a vent it cap, so has been modified, looks like its a 20mm hole so per have they intended fitting a sensor.
The vent to stop a vacuum will be either a 5mm hole on the side or the cap is manufactured to include a vent underneath the cap.
A new cap will have the part number NTC2723

Wow! So most likely mine also had a spur which has been broken off.

What is the purpose of this spur? It's a vent or sth else? How the fact that it's broken off affects my power steering system?

I have some leak but I cannot trace it. The amount of fluid in the reservoir is ok and still I have some liquid on the outside of the reservoir and on the hose going to the steering box. I checked the hose and it looks OK.

I have a Chinese steering pump as it was the only one available when I needed it. It's making some noises but is not leaking. Could it be the reason for the leak? But even if so where is the fluid leaking?! From the picture looks like the hose but it looks very good.

Previously my reservoir was moist too and now it seems dry. But I'm pretty sure it will soon be moist too.
