Hi there
I have a 1998 Disco1, and I've been having trouble with the immobiliser. :( I'd like to place a question and I'll be gratefull for any info on this subject.

I'm thinking of placing a Spider by-pass plug to avoid the engine being immobilised at any moment. The question is, if I plug in the by-pass, wil the door locking and opening still work with the key fobs or is that also bypased an goes to manual operation??

I do´'t want the engine immobiliser but I'd hate to have to lock and unlock manualy all doors specialy having children in and out all day...

I've read lots about the spider, but I'll apreciate any new info.
thaks.

Yes you will still hsve the remote function.
Check that you have the spider as some discos from late 97MY and 98MY were fitted with a similar systen fitted to the D2s which is similar to the D1 but with out the spider system for immobilising the engine.

I guess I do have got a SPIDER, I have a two button fob and the Disco has been immobilised various times when the alarm fuse poped when armed.

But to be sure, I suppose I have to open up the dash board to find out. I'll have to do it anyway if I'm plugging in a by pass. Is there any other way to find out if it has a SPIDER ? Its a 300TDI non EDC

thanjs for the info !!:D

The easy way to check if you have a spider is remove the radio and look down behind the dash u may requrie a torch and a mirror but I understand it can be seen and even unpluged so the bypass can be fitted, the dash front has only to be removed to get access to repair or replace the spider.
I saw this info in a forum but I forget which now, I never bothered to check if true.
