Yo!

Can anyone recommend a good set of speakers for my discovery TD5, I have just the standard speakers that come in the GS.

Cheers,

Nick

I have always liked ones made by Kicker, or for excellent value for money there are Pioneer ones. I would just change them to one of those makes, with the same size speaker that is already in the Discovery.

Just installing replacement loudspeakers the same size of the originals without also matching the specification u could come unstuck big time, could poor sound quality or damaging the amp outputs, what ever the make loudspeaker you fancy.

Most speakers are pretty much have the same ohms range. There are some that are different, but the ones found in places like Halfords and road radio are pretty much like any normal car speaker, the shops would advise anyway.
If in doubt take one of the old speaker with you.
Just make sure that they have the same mounting (which I doubt the will) so you will need a bracket for them to, nice and cheap on ebay :)

Hmmmm might just pop down to Halfords and get them to fit it for me. Hopefully not too expensive.

Cheers for the advice guys

No Probs :)

A pair of Pioneers will be about £20 + fitting if you get them to do it. Its a pretty simple job, just need to remove the interior door card and that's about it. As I mentioned might need mounting bracket and wiring adaptors to, which simply push on to the existing wire to the new speakers, as that can sometimes be different to.

Not only is the coil resistance important but so is the depth, power handling and the frequency range.
If you must use Halfords then as they will let you hear the various loudspeaker of your choice and you will/should hear the difference.
But if you wish to get a professional opinion and not on a £20 budget then visit a ICE shop and hear the difference.
For your £20 look at these 100mm loudspeakers, the spec also applies to larger sizes. you may or may not require a spacer ring depends which ones your changing on a D2

Ha ha yeah i'm happy to spend more than £20, want something decent that just fits in the same space.

Get yourself the full set from a breaker including the amp and read door stuff, all the wiring should be there and it all fits
