As my RRC has an LPG conversion, it has a bloody great 100 litre tank in the boot taking up a lot of space.

To free up some space, I'm looking at getting a toroidal tank mounted where the spare wheel is, which means I would need to relocate the spare wheel (I cannot fit underslung torpedos as the car has EAS, so the compressor and tank sit where these would normally be fitted).

What options do I have for this that don't include leaving it in the boot? I was thinking some kind of towbar-mounted attached would be cool, but can't find anything suitable.

Other thing I have seen is swingaway wheel carriers, anyone know who sells one? Both Craddocks and Britpart list one but do not specifiy what model Range Rover or supply an image - really useful.

Only other option I can think of is to get a roofrack for expedition use to mount a couple of spare wheels on, and whilst in the UK just carry a can of tyre weld - not ideal, but I guess for greenlaning days I could chuck the spare in the boot?

Cheers oil dripper. It's not the most aesthetically designed wheel carrier ever, but I guess it does the job! They're about £200 + delivery, seems quite expensive for a few bits of metal welded together!

Am tempted by the roof rack idea - on overland trips the extra storage space would be useful anyway, and in the UK a can of tyre weld will sort most situations whilst I can chuck a spare in the boot for greenlaning trips.

i dont know the layout under the classic but is there not anywere to put a space saver type tyre underneth?

Sadly not! The fuel tank is directly beneath the boot floor. On the P38 (which has an 8" longer wheel base) they moved the fuel tank to beneath the back seats so they could fit a full sized spare wheel in the boot floor, often used for LPG tanks. Sadly Classic owners have no such luxury...

move the eas box and tank..fit underslung tanks...

eas will fit in engine bay, or can seperate, i have compressor in engine bay,valve block and drier under passenger seat and tank under front x member..works a treat.

I have 2 underslung 40l tanks where the old petrol tank used to be and a smaller petrol tank in the inner wing by the filler.
I have yet to brim the petrol tank but it will take £40 of fuel quite easily.
Unless you want to keep your full petrol tank for your trip this allows you to free up your boot. The fit horizontally across (but under) the rear boot area
Although mine is the lse I don't think there is an difference in the boot size.
I specifically didn't want to lose boot space so looked for a conversion like I have.
I reckon with a full lpg tank - around 65 litres and a full petrol tank I'd have a range of 325-340 miles.

wish they did one for a p38, did see one on a bobtailed p38 in a mag once

might make one myself one day

Quite a lot of work involved there! Does the compressor not get too hot in the engine bay? Plus underslung tanks would reduce ground clearance - they hang a lot lower than the EAS stuff does.

I'd need the full petrol tank - with the RR's thirst and the lack of LPG in Morocco, I'd be screwed without the full size tank!

There seems to be a lot available in the US and Aus, but not much in the UK other than the Bearmach one - which isn't the best option I've ever seen!
