So i finally got round to replacing the gearbox on my friends disco 2 ,
Its took me all weekend heavy work on your own .

Ok so i broke the top off a little switch on the transfer box , the two spades are still connected ,but a little black bit with a spring inside is bust off .

How will the affect the disco ? if i leave it

Also i have a long double wire in the sheathing , hanging down (white connctor) the left side of the engine (as you look from the front) it actually reaches the brake servo area , i dont remember disconnecting this on removal so i fear ive snagged it off something , ive looked for about an hour from above and below the vehicle and just cannot find where it goes :/

The discovery starts and it pulled up the drive ok , but its dark now and id prefer to wait till morning now

the thing you ruined is the diff-lock switch, as long as it's not connected will not affect the car's behaviour just the diff-lock warning will not work when the central diff is locked... so leave it unplugged untgill you fix it, it's doable in situ with a bit of contorsionism

about the other wire upload a clear pic and describe what colour wires are going into the plug otherwise it's hard to guess

Understood the wires are still attached the disco seems to drive normally , perhaps the porttion of switch thats fell off has broken the circuit the same as detaching the wires
