Just cos it sayd EAS Fault or HDC Fault - doesn't mean that is what it is....as I have said before (and many times) that the EAS and ABS/HDC system will go into fault if one or the other systems on the CANbus also go into fault!

Oh and put some mats in there to save the carpet

I've had a spirulous fault like that on a customers L322, same year 2002 seems to be steering angle sensor related, just bought that tool to add to the 'box.
