I took the plunge...
Bought my self a 109 station wagon series III with big tyres on and a Perkins Prima engine...

Drove it home 35 miles, took a bit of getting used to! But loved it. Only problem was gears jumped out a good few times (in any gear). Knew it had and issue with the box before I purchased, thought it was leaking out the bell housing. So i stuck a litre of ep90 in before i set off.

Not so sure now.

Drained gearbox, less than a litre in there. So opened the transfer case filler plug and... there it all was, litres and litres of oil came gushing out!

So... could a lack of oil cause the gears to jump out? Do I just need to keep topping up the gearbox oil and emptying off the transfer case? or is it new box time?

Cheers all

lack of oil is not the cause of jumping out of gear i would look for another g/box or repair the 1 you have
