Hi all, my 90 (200tdi) chucking out black smoke on start up.Only lasts a few moments, seems to be running ok .Done engine oil change but still the same. Also cleaned K&N filters, any ideas ?

Tis normal - in fact a good sign that yer injection pump is workin propper.

Sure ... they just do it.

It is USUALLY because some fuel has dripped out of the injectors overnight. Tough huh?
It won't be helped by the cold start excess fuel device in the injection pump kicking in to get the engine running from a cold start.

Check the book to find out what it suggests you do with the THROTTLE pedal when starting up from cold. Some NEED NO THROTTLE, and others ask for FULL THROTTLE.

going to smoke what ever, but a tin of fuel cleaner will reduce it greatly on most vehicles
