Has anyone tried to replace front transfer box output shaft bearing with box in situ. Need to replace bearing but dont want to take transfer box out. Ive heard it can be done by using a home made slide hammer to remove shaft.

I did mine a while back.

I didn't use a slide hammer. Instead, because I was replacing the flange anyway I removed the circlip then bolted the flange back on and hit the shaft and bearing out using that. It knackered the flange but I was replacing it anyway.

You need a really good set of circlip pliers as the circlip is really tough to get out. I'd also fit a new circlip, I didn't as I needed to get the job done but the circlip wasn't the best.

Finally did this and wasnt to bad a job. No puller just knocked it out with chisel and hammer.
