I did mine a while back.
I didn't use a slide hammer. Instead, because I was replacing the flange anyway I removed the circlip then bolted the flange back on and hit the shaft and bearing out using that. It knackered the flange but I was replacing it anyway.
You need a really good set of circlip pliers as the circlip is really tough to get out. I'd also fit a new circlip, I didn't as I needed to get the job done but the circlip wasn't the best.
