Hi all,

So I'm slowly going through all the problems of my p38 (bought yesterday), im tackling the sidelight first, I've had the front LH sidelight bulb fault on the display so went to check it, and it was unplugged, as soon as I plugged it back in it started flashing, doesn't matter if the ignition is on or of, the lights are on or off, it flashes no matter what if it is connected, but the RH sidelight works fine.

I cant seem to find any help online.
Any input greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Have had a look at diagrams L/H R/H side lamps gets their power direct from BECM. L/H pin 9 code RW Red/White. R/H from pin 5 code RB Red/Black. Can't think of any reason it would be flashing. Maybe it is a fault in the parking lamp circuit. But that should only be active with ignition off and indicator stalk switched either left or right for parking lamps. Afraid you will have to get a leccy on that one. Maybe a switching transistor in BECM gone duff.

Hi Wammers, ok im going to put my hands up here and say I AM A TOTAL TOSSER  ! In my haste at seeing the sidelight bulb warning I went in guns blazing and plugging in what I thought was the sidelight plug, on second inspection ive noticed it is actually below the main light bulb, and it was just a bulb out, which I have now replaced and works fine.

On both RH and LH light units there is a set of what seems like extra sidelights, upon plugging then both in they both flash at the same time. I take it this means I have purchased an Ex police car :D

Not too sure, but surely there should be a switch somewhere near the driver to turn these on and off?

What else could they possibly be for, anyone else come across this?

Cheers

Well at least you sorted the problem. Don't worry it happens to the best of us from time to time. :):):)
