If you want something which looks like a defender go and buy a defender... Then you get the 'bonuses' of the improved performance, efficiency, comfort, etc. If you make a series look like a defender it will get nicked and end up burnt out somewhere when they realise it's worthless. (in comparison to a defender)
To answer your question: yes it is possible to fit the wings to a series, what else needs to be changed? Chassis, engine, gear box, body, transmission, axles, wheels, interior trim, etc.

If you have a spare series 2 then sell a series 2. Its not rocket science. Why the hell would you want to go and ruin a perfectly good series 2 by sticking on 110 parts?
A Land Rover is functional, it does a job very well. Or, it is a classic, an old vehicle restored to its former glory. There would be no functional benefit of sticking defender bits on it.
JUST GO BUY A DEFENDER
And don't even entertain the thought of putting your series ID on the defender. :mad2::mad2::mad2:

To be fair to the guy, if my front end panels were completely knackered I'd probably look into fitting Defender bits. But as theyre not, I won't....and mines only a series 3 anyway...

Making it look like a sort of defenderish thing that most folks in the know will spot a mile off can be done, but it will be worth less then a standard series 2. You also aren't "beating" tax, as it would still have to be essentially a series 2 underneath to retain the ID - that means no coils for a start...

I'm confused about the tax thing, as it's already tax free (presumably) sticking a pair of defender wings and grill on it isn't going to change it's taxation class.
