Right first post so far,

Currently fixing up my old Landy and notice a pretty bad vibration in the front left wheel arch panels that resonate outwards along the front of the car. It seems the vibrations are coming from the engine?

Vibration seems to reduce when moving.

The fan seems a little bent which may be causing the vibration?

I've see comments about changing the engine mounts and servicing the universal joint.

Thanks!

Are all the panels in that area secure. The mud shield in the near side wing of my series 3 has rotted along one edge and flaps about, this cause the vibes and noise that you describe. If it is engine vibration, you will see the engine vibrating a fair bit on tickover.

Inner wing fixing point at the back. Just fixed mine as it had snapped completely off, well the bit with the bolt had. Sounded like a woodpecker was trying to get through the bulkhead on idle.

Check the exhaust isn't catching - it probably moves / vibrates more on idle. Changing the engine and gearbox mounts made a huge difference to vibrations on mine.
