I looked at them as a tow car before I bought the Disco. They have a good reputation but are normally 2wd for road use, engaging 4wd has no centre diff so you cant run it on the road. I figured this could be a pain on our snowy roads where main roads are often clear and side road are snow bound.
They are supposedly not comfortable on the road (if that matters) I doubt spares are as easy to come by and there are not the same number of enthusiasts around to help. Its also hard to find a decent one these days...........
Definitely rust is the issue, the engine is pretty bullet proof. I did hear that Daihatsu might be pulling out of the UK market because of low volumes so I can see spares having to go completely independent, might not be such an issue because the Fourtrak hasn`t been imported new for a while anyway
It's a Discovery 300tdi with 140,000 miles on the clock, runs on 100% bio diesel (heated fitting kit)
new rear arches, both inner/outer sills, front arch patched up, new boot floor, new p/s and d/s floor pan,
new goodyear eagle gt4 tyres all round
new clutch, new water pump, new timing belt/kit,
split charge system
electric sunroofs with new seals ect,
Saw the Fourtrak and it just seems to appeal to me, small wide funky, just very basic.
was looking at this car:
eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
Doors didn't close right and didn't look very nice quite tatty which I was quite upset about as I had set my heart on one of these carsengine seemed sweet and powerful ect
