God knows I've tried but for some reason when I put clunking or knocking noise when slowing down with clutch dipped, or any variant of, I keep getting no matches.

Good question, I gave em both a good twist and there's definitely a lot more play in the rear.
It only happens when I'm slowing to a halt with the clutch dipped.

have tried it with difflock on? try and iliminate the gearbox use hi - lo difflock on

thanks lads please bear with me on this one it's quite intermittent, so difficult to pin down. have tried with difflock and no knocking, but when i disengaged the difflock it didn't knock either.
Next day it knocked a couple of times without difflock tried to engage difflock but couldn't catch it in time.
It's only when I'm coasting to a stop and knock it out of gear.
i'll keep you posted.

Sounds like either A-frame balljoint or one or more of your suspension bushes. Check em all but espescially the chassis end of the radius arms and rear lower links.
