My year 2000 Defender 110 is leaking on both sides now. Nothing unusual, I'm sure, but I would like to slow it down a bit.

Is it possible to replace the foam strip below the windscreen panel without taking the roof off?

Yes, release the screen at the bottom each side of the dash. Remove door seals down to tub level. Remove bolts/brackets along the tub sides and loosen the ones at the back. Remove rear door. Jack the front end of roof up just enough to renew the seal.

I'd be tempted to loosen the roof, rather than the side panels off the tub.

Works either way, just less to undo along the tub.

It does, but the brackets along tub level are more awkward to put back and get the tub to side panel seals nipped correctly. Roof bolts are easy.
