I’m just about to start fitting all the ancillaries back on the crankcase with new gaskets.
What’s the current feeling about sealants?
I was going to use a thin smear of Hylomar Blue on everything - unless I shouldn’t.
Views please?

For the normal bog standard gaskets I usually just put a smear of grease on both sides as I fit them.
Works for me.

Blue hylomar practically guarantees leak free joints. Thin smear like you suggest.

Thanks for the answers. Done all the ancillary bits now.
Can I use hylomar for the flywheel cover too? Workshop manual says to use hylofix 2000.

I do it on old Brit bikes which are notoriously leaky and it seems to work for me.
Some special gaskets on the jap bikes specify particular sealants but most normal gaskets a wipe with grease not only makes a better seal but makes them easier to remove later.
