Does anyone know the correct size / part No for the screws that hold the front of the undertray to the bumper on a facelift TD4?

Theres 2 types of screws. 4 self tappers in the middle section & 2 each on each corner that screw into metal clips.

A garage managed to lose most the bolts/screws from my undertray when they changed my injector pump - only fitted the main 6 bolts. Dont think they expected me to check their work. Have already suitably told them off but struggling to get the correct replacement screws.

Any help really appreciated.

I hate that kind of carelessness as it makes me wonder what else has been left loose or left out?? Good luck in the quest for the bolts.

As I've been undoing years of damage on mine it's clear that all the garage work has been shoddy beyond belief. I just don't trust big chain garages anymore - far better to go a local small independent whp are only as good as their last job and rely on word of mouth :).
 
If you haven't got a box of spare nuts and bolts. They'll only be a few pounds from land rover! I'd just rummage around tho:)

I've been to Stratstone Land Rover Nottingham this morning. One tech and the service reception guys were raving about my freelander! Maybe I should do it for a living!?!?

I've spent many years working on all manner of MG Rovers and Freelanders and you wouldn't believe the things I've found. Everything from missing and loose bolts on things like bell housing bolts, engine mounts, alternator bolts manifold bolts and last week while doing the cam belts on my Fl V6 I found 2 engine mount bolts loose and worst still the belt tensioner was loose and moving!! Makes my wonder what monkeys have been working on it in the past?? All rather worrying ;(

You're not quite right there Dave.

On a facelift model there are 2 chunky self-tappers on each side with a 15mm washer on each. You should have no problem finding replacements for those.

But the other 4 in the middle section holding the grey plastic bottom of the bumper section to the leading edge of the aluminium of the undertray are not self-tappers at all.

They are M5 Pan-Head machine screws with a 20mm long thread.
They also should have a 15mm washer on each.

They do tend to corrode in place if it's a while time-wise between oil-changes - I put moly grease on them when re-fitting.

Not exactly a common size - I hope you did not really have self-tappers before this service, because if you did they would have been forced into the M5 tapped holes. Perhaps evidence of an earlier sign of gorillas at work. :(

Why would would you possibly know that off the top of your head? M5 maybe but the length and washer diameter? You are a font of knowledge but sometimes I do wonder:D

Hi there DD.

Sure, didn't know all the dimensions - I knew the M5 Pan-Head bit, as I needed to find the right tap to clean up the threads after the winter.

But all I did was walk 10 yards to the car with a screw-driver and a rule to check the length of the screws.

I am sitting here (at work) on stand-by and I'm bored - so anything that comes up breaks the monotony.

Sorry called them self tappers for the middle 4.
Funny (not) was out of the 2x2 outer ones. 2 was missing, 1 was still there but they had tried to jam a small self tapper into the slot! Also lost the 2 rear 10mm bolts. Back end was hanging down.
Only reason I put it up on ramps the next day was because I had a wee bit too much engine oil (see my post the other week) just wanted to drop a bit out. Thats when I saw all the missing fastners from my undertray. And I knew all the correct bolts/scews was there before the garage got its mitts on my car because I had done the oil change the week before.
Guy Salmon cant find the correct screws I require.
Since the injector pump was fitted my turbo is making a very loud whooshing noise - could be a hose split? Wasnt like it before. Have bought a full set of DPH hoses to replace this week.
They also said they topped my anti freeze up because they had to drain my coolant to change the injector pump! So I now plan to change the coolant again myself to make sure thats been done properly.
Basically im sh*tting myself about what theyve done to my car.

Many thanks for all the answers, especially to Singvogel. All sorted now replaced the 4 centre one's with stainless steel replacements.
Only one that couldn’t be fixed was where the garage had tried to jam a stubby self tapper on one of the corner ones and ripped the plastic on the car.
