There was a guy on fleabay selling updated discs that supposedly took post codes. Mine didn't work but it's a P38 early Carin system and uses CDs. I believe the type that uses DVDs may be OK.

There's a chap called Mick who does BMW satnav software (the L322 Rangies share some of the same systems as BMW X5s) - I think the site is called Eurosatnav.com. He has an upgraded DVD that gives full postcode entry. Worked a treat on my X5.

He does Mk3 CDs as well, not sure of how much extra function is added to them. The early l322 RR satnav is not renowned for being particularly good. You should be able to swop it out directly with a Mk4 though - remember the BMW X5 takes the same kit - they pop up on ebay regularly (usually advertised for X5s though, not Rangies) and are probably worth the upgrade as you can load UK and Europe in one go, get full post code entry and Voice Activation as well. Worth contacting Mick. The upgraded discs are cheap.

Ian,

I ended up having to replace my sat nav unit due to water damage from a faulty window seal and I got a replacement sat nav DVD player with a copy of the the 2008/09 disc off a guy in birmingham on ebay. I think it would let you enter the first 4 or 5 digits of a postcode i.e. PR6 7 or M29 7 etc then you still had to find the street from that.

Wasnt really any diff from the original 2002/03 disc I had in mine really.

Mike
