Noticed my o/s/f Tyre was losing air so ran down to my local Tyre place this morning and found the bead was leaking. After it was done the guy said i had a band bolted into the centre of the rim to stop the Tyre coming off in the event of a puncture, anyone ever used this type of thing? He also said that if i need new tyres or even the Tyre removing for a puncture he wouldn't do it as takes too long to dismantle the band and refit

Yeah I have the same thing, however my local spanner man said he isn't worried about it, and would fit tyres if I needed. I don't know if I have it on all 5 tyres though

Looking at the video you just need to make up a clamp to hold the tyre out of the way while the band is undone so not such a problem
