Evening All,

managed to sort the electrical wiring issue causing a transmission error every time I engaged drive…12v live feed to gear shifter had a broken wire in the loom.

moving onto my next issue …I have the delay changing from 1st to 2nd gear and intermittently the thud when changing up .
Seems like it’s hanging onto the gear it’s in.

Would like the opinion of the knowledgeable guys on here if it’s worth changing out the fluid and filter myself (separate filter conversion) or finding a local company to do a mega flush and fill?

Did want to do as much work on the car myself as on a budget and love a challenge.
looks like the price of the mega flush is not much more than the conversion kit and fluids.
Can anyone recommend this flush and know if their are any mobile or garages around the Essex or East London area which do this ?

Mark

Mega flushes can have mixed results as it disturb stuff that is sitting happily out the way causing no trouble, most opt for a drain and refill run for 1k miles then do again and do another 1k then on the 3 drain fit new filter and you must use the correct trans fluid not just any old atf.

Thanks Brian,
Seen the Britpart kit for around £180 with metal sump and detached filter including the ZF fluid.

Looks doable on the videos with tight access on a few of the sump bolts.
My RRS has no history and 170,000 on the clock.

Have you checked for low gearbox oil ?? I found a loose gearbox cooler pipe connection on mine which later seemed a common issue.
Maybe just do a drain and refill iv got todo mine at some point I bought the gearbox oil ages ago but never got round to doing it yet.....

Good point…will check that when in get up the courage to crawl underneath it.
Does it have to be on a level surface rather than ramps and engine running to check the gearbox fluid level?

And yes, engine needs to be running, you need to go through all the gears and i believe you need to reach a certain oil temp to measure the level

I'd still have the filter changed as well... You'll clean the old oil out of the system but the filter won't be clean👍
