Hi guys, I am going to fit some roof rails to my Disco2,
Question is, when i drop the roofcloth, will i see from the underside any kind of indication of where to drill the hole through the roof?

Hoping to find a reinforcing plate bonded to the underside of the roof, with a hole through it so i can see where to drill.

The holes are already there in the roof bows so you just need to drill through from the inside, then cone cut them slightly bigger from the outside so the roof rail fits .you will kknow what I mean as you do it. This is what we have done on quite a few . Hope this helps

Hi, I've just fitted these to my dads td5. When the roof lining is down you'll see where to drill. I went through with a 6mm drill from the inside then on top a 25mm hole cutter through the first skin of the roof they fit in perfect I also put a bit of mastic round the holes to just to be on the safe side.

Thanks Jim, is the roof lining a pig to come down? front end looks not too bad, but looks like all the trim round the rear windows has to come off to get the back down.

It's easier than it looks just take your time the front takes a bit longer to undo than the back as there are so many screws and bolts. Back trim is only held on by push type fittings if you have a trim removal tool it's even easier I just used a pair of end cutters with out to much pressure and pulled them out.
