Hi all. Not posted for a while so it was about time for another problem... It would appear my rocker cover is leaking on my TD5. I had a small puddle under the van after leaving it for a few days. Thought it was the gearbox so checked level (after welding a nut to the plug because it was rounded off) all fine. Under the bonnet it looks like it's been seapin out the rocker cover down the back an on to the gear box.

I presume its a simple job? And is there anything I should do whilst it's off? Replace seal for ECU loom? It's an early TD5 with 150000 miles on it.

Cheers

Have not a clue about TD5's
but replacing the rocker gasket is a pretty easy job.
Have you tried to torq it down a bit first?
Better advise will come soon methinks:D:D

It could be the fuel pressure regulator leaking. Are you sure its engine oil and not diesel? The cam cover rubber gasket is cheap and easy enough to change. I'd give everything a good clean up and try to discover where the leak is coming from before taking things apart.

I cleaned the whole area and ran it for a day. It turned out it was leaking from the plastic cap on the front of the block. Took it out and the O ring was rock hard. Replaced, cleaned, ran for a few days, no leak. Im happy. :)

Simple and cheap fix. Dont always assume the worst until you've eliminated the easy stuff. Glad its sorted.
