yes,galvanised body cappings is the one!!
do they consist of only the small strip that you see on the outside or do you remove them by taking panels off?

If you look at my profile and look at 'minor restoration' pics you will see the body cappings in the last pic. I really dont think you need galvanised body cappings as good quality ones will last 20 years when primed and painted.
I got mine fron IanNotts who is a member on here, top quality (pm him for a price) and a fairly easy job to do.
If you do a search on 'body cappings' you will find lots of tips and previous posts that will help.
