Ive tried a few things to rejuvinate my spats like sanding them, tcutting them, painting them with tyre paint etc but none seem to be that effective really, although the tyre paint was ok it didnt last too long and im not too keen on spraying them unless they just end up cracking.

Although ive recently treid applying a bit of oil to them with a rag, very sparingly so theyre not damp or slippery to the touch. The photo below shows a comparison of how they were and how they look now.

Has anyone else tried this and had any success over the long term??

smooth peanut butter is very good, not sure how well it will work now you've painted and oiled them

take a cloth, tip some clear body laquer on it, and wipe it over the spat.

Works well on car bumpers, only think is i'm not sure how flexible it would be.
