im planning on replacing my Rocker cover gaskets but I've recently been led to believe that you have to degas the air on in order to remove an air on pipe before removing the Rocker covers.

Can anyone confirm either way for me please.

Thanks

I am not sure you need to evacuate the air con to remove the covers...I could be wrong.... But I dont remember doing it on mine way back when!

I gather you mean air con, not necessary to de-gas.
I replaced my cam cover gaskets (no rockers in there;)) and it was a bit of task but wholly satisfying pulling the heat damaged originals out and fitting supple new ones.
One thing I'd urge you to renew when in there are the cover retaining bolt rubber washers, something I didn't consider before embarking on the job but I used a hylomar sealant on mine and they did seal, but they were hard and cracked slightly.
Same sealant was useful to hold the main gaskets in place, without it mine wouldn't stay put in the covers.

The passenger side from memory was the more tricky, don't recall exactly why but it may have been the fuel supply pipe that has minimal clearance to remove/refit cover, but it was doable.

Oh, and I did mine AFTER replacing the Pcv valve, which was boogered.

Good luck.
