Hi all

I have a Holey rear crossmember on my 90, TD, but she's already had a replacement with extensions.

Can I just cut the old crossmember off, clean up the existing extensions, and fit another or am I going to have to find another solution?

Yes depending on if the extensions have rusted also.

The extensions seem OK although I guess I'll only really know when I get to look inside

As you say then - Do the job and see. There's always an extra plate needed on a landie !!!

and this x members a much better design,not sure if mines one of pressbakes but if it was knackered i would buy one

Mines a pressbrake cross member. They are so good he should patent them and sell it to land rover.

They are what land rover should have fitted!!!

im fitting mine from pressbrake this evening (or at least starting to fit it.) I will post pics.

This has to be the best solution. Clive knows his onions when it comes to LR chassis repairs.

Thanks for the advice guys. I had a look at various crossmembers at Billing today and I reckon Pressbrakes look the best, at least they'll be easier to get the mud out of.

Now I just need to persuade the guy that wants my old LT77 to take it in exchange for his welding skills
