My 2010 Defender 90 has black fire and ice style steps. Seem sound, but both tubes and top plates are showing some corrosion and looking a bit tatty. I'm sure a coat of Hammerite will spruce them up. I saw a video on youtube with a guy suggesting he'd bought a pair of anodised top plates at one of the Land Rover shows, but can't find anywhere I can buy anything similar online (assuming I can get all of the seized screws out!). It seems a waste to replace them to the tune of £300+ if they can be fluffed up.

Any thoughts/pointers gratefully received!

Many thanks!

Paint them with bed liner paint, raptor or similar products are on the market. :)

Don’t just paint with the likes of hammerite, it won’t last. The best bet is as above, shot blasted, zinc coated and then painted. The steps are exposed to salt and muck from the road so need doing properly.
